I watched this last year and it had its highs and lows but this time they really have some deluded airheads. While my dream might be running an odd combination of gamer pub serving nice food I know there's no hope in hell I could actually accomplish such a venture, so I'm not a deluded airhead.
What I think of the contestants:
- For some reason I missed the Jamaicans so I won't comment on them
- Richard and Scott: (out last week) Two main flaws: when you've got a concept, you actually need to stick to it and not do something entirely different (i.e. not call your place Sorbet and Seasons and then serve neither sorbet nor seasonal food) and the second being that you should actually have any idea what's going on. They really were rubbish.
- Caroline and Chris: They're not doing too badly but apparently their food is a bit bland.
- Harriet and Mike: A great chef led by a rubbish, thick-headed and arrogant front of house manager. I just want to slap him every time he gets something blatantly wrong. The way he talks back at Blanc's well-grounded criticisms is also appalling.
- Helen and Stephen: Those two are in the top three, nothing special but they're doing fine with their family restaurant idea. They just need to sort out their technical difficulties.
- Laura and Peter: I'm still not convinced by the concept of Welsh/Asian fusion, especially not the way they're doing it.
- Lindsie and Tim: Great kitchen, problems on the organisation side
- Michele and Russell: Also among my favourites and they got Restaurant of the Week this week.
- Alasdair and James: I really want theirs to work. I love the concept for a posh restaurant (gallery and fine food). Two problems: Again, rubbish front of house, I don't know how many times customers didn't have cutlery or other essential items or Alasdair was unable to answer customers' questions about the food. The latter is part of the second problem: lack of communication, they need to knock their heads together and work together, not separately and against each other. At least, unlike Mike, Alasdair acknowledges how rubbish he is.

Challenge tomorrow (cooking at Oxford colleges, oh dear). I really want Mike to lose because he's an arrogant moron but I'd feel sorry for his lovely daughter so it might be Alasdair/James but I'd feel sorry for James because I love his cooking.
