I just tuned into this to while away the time til QI starts. I'm by no means an expert (but several of you know a lot more about this kind of thing so I'm asking) but it feels to me that the whole setting (costumes etc.) is completely off in terms of historical accuracy? Not quite as bad as First Knight with its polished armour etc but close. I'm expecting a Queen soundtrack any minute...

The costumes arn't too bad, I'm no expert but I can usually spot really duff cozzies.

Only the bearest minimum of the plot is accurate.

But its good to watch, everything is easy on the eye and the music is superb.

Really? I'll grand you i've only seen billboards (etc) but i didn't see anything as looked at all accurate in those...

Like I said "I'm no expert" but they seemed close enough to the sorts of pics I've seen in "900 years of English Costume" by Nancy Bradford to not be offensive, especially compared to many other historical TV series I've seen.

I have not stared at them in depth, nor devoted great amounts of time and study to the era no.

I'm also no expert (i do a fair level later) but there seemed to be some fair fundamental issues...though like i say, these are from billboards, and overseas (well, Dublin) at that!

I agree - and even though it's not 100% historically accurate it has certainly given me a basis from which to go and now learn about that period of history.
I can never grasp history, as i just forget things after i read them, but i tend to retain things like films and TV programs so it's a good start :)

And the costumes may be a little innacurate, but i don't think they're too far off the mark.
