Bond on ITV

The speed boat chase is definitely one of the best opening sequences and the opening credits are a perfect mix of modern and classic. Other than that, mmmm, Sophie Marceau. Definitely one of those women who get even more attractive with age. In La Boom she was cute, now she's still one hell of a woman.

Mentioning Bond, last week I saw the trailer to Quantum of Solace (which is the title of a Fleming short story that doesn't even have Bond in it ETA: at least that's not about him) and it looked like he's going rogue in that one. We'll see.

Actually Bond was in Quantum of Solace - he's in it for about three paragraphs in a framing plot in which someone tells him the story, and asks an occasional question as the story is told. But he has no part whatever in its events.

It's possible that there's another version of the story which omits Bond completely, but I've never seen it.

It may be a good title for a Maughamesque tale of marital infidelity, but it's a rubbish one for a Bond film. Gah, I guess this means the next film will be called The Hildebrand Rarity (and mistaken for a Ludlum).

Not that Bond titles ever made much sense but this one really takes the biscuit, at least, as you say, for an action film.
