The Orphanage
12 Aug 2008 10:45 pmis a wonderful and beautiful film. Not too screwed in the head artsy so you can actually follow what's happening but very artistic. The lighting is wonderful. I'm not sure if it's because of my growing understanding of photography that I'm more aware of these things (like the shallow DOF in The Mist) or if more such photographic techniques are being used in films but it's great to look at. I just regret that I didn't have (or make) the time to see it on the big screen at the time.
Then, probably stupidly, I watched the last episode of Bonekickers who kicked that wonderfulness in the bollocks. On the other hand, it was much needed comic relief. I mean, how many Arthurian and other classic legends can you pack into one episode? Great use of Wells Cathedral, though, a great location. And after this, I will always have a certain picture of the Lady of the Lake I'd rather burn out of my mind...
Speaking of photographic techniques, this has to be the cutest baby photo ever.
