For [livejournal.com profile] snapesbabe, [livejournal.com profile] matgb and [livejournal.com profile] pmoodie:

When I booked my weekend pass on Tuesday, the lady said that you could book the films you'd like to see in advance to reserve a seat. Do we want to do that, at least for the films we really want to see and that are going to be popular, like the 70mm Thing?

We did that a couple of years ago and it all went to cock. We have found that the best way is for everyone to make a list and then get them from the lady when we collect the passes.

Yeah, when I phoned to book the passes I was given an email adress to send my list of films so I could pick up the tickets when I get there.

El and I are still mulling over what we want to see, but I think we've pretty much decided. I'll send off the email in the next few days.

*nods* It sounded like it could be dangerous. Thanks.

I think I'll do that for films I really want to see and then take things as they come as I obviously want to hang out with you guys. If you do send the mail, fancy posting your choices?

Yeah, that's what we've done in the past. It's best to get tickets for the absolute must-see stuff but it's OK to wing it for the other stuff.

Yup, I'll post my choices and also the email address. :)

Aye, last year I think I just turned up for a bunch of the films I liked the look of—my tastes aren't identical to SBs and she'd chosen the films (I hadn't even seen the schedule).

Pretty sure we'll be split across different films more than once, I definitely want to see Triffids but she wants Phibes, for example.

El and I are pretty close, taste-wise, so I imagine we'll be seeing the same stuff.

I love most of the TV things they're showing (Count Dracula particularly) but I have most of them on DVD and I assume it'll be the DVDs they'll be showing at the fest, so I'm going to concentrate more on the big-screen stuff.

Dracula should be the remastered version that was in cinemas a while ago. I went to see it on a Friday night and the screen was practically empty.
I'll be concentrating on stuff I haven't seen at all or a long time ago (like Phibes, possibly).

Yep, they're showing that at 12.30 on the Sunday, but Count Dracula is the two-part BBC TV version from 1977, and they're showing Part 1 (only the first part?) on Friday at 1pm.

There's not much chance of us making it down in time for that anyway, so it's not much of a problem.

I'm really annoyed that they're showing Brain Dead on Friday so early. I'd have to leave 8ish at the very latest.
Hm, I have all of Friday off, so I could drive up on Thursday night after rush hour, blag SB's sofa for the night and then move to the Lodge in the morning. That might be an idea, actually.

Well it does say TBC next to that, so they might not be showing it at all!

Also, beware! There are two films called Brain Dead, and it doesn't state which one this is.

I would imagine it's the Peter Jackson film, but there's a chance it's the other one. I'd check if I were you, to avoid disappointment.

Oh no, I'll better check!
Ah yes, I've seen the other one. Not bad but completely different.

I'm assuming that soon there will be an actual programme on the website giving details about the films, which should clear up such confusion.

Because it's a bit unfair to just give people titles - not everyone is familiar with the films and it makes it a bit hard to decide what to see from the title alone.

I entirely agree. Judging by the spelling, it's not the Jackson one.

And I want to see your poster, dammit.
