and arses.
The Mediæval Bæbes were definitely worth the trip to Ely.

Is Ely worth a visit? when the Babes aren't in town I mean. We fancied going there a while back but you need to book a couple of weeks in advance to get a cheapish train ticket.

If you're into historical buildings and tea rooms, yes. The cathedral is rather stunning and there's Cromwell's house and other things, too.

I'm biased, as you may be able to tell from the username, but I'd say it's worth a look, providing:
a) you like cathedrals, and
b) you don't erxpect the earth.
It's a pretty place, with lots of architectural styles, and a lot of history. Though to be honest, once you've been round the cathedral and Cromwell's House, there isn't a lot to actually do

Unless you want to come and see Julius Caesar in the gardens of the Old Bishop's Palace next week, in which your correspondent is making a fleeting appearance.

And if you like good food, and have a few quid, try and get yourself a table at the Old Fire Engine House, or if you can'ty (they only have about eight tables), the Boathouse is worth a stab too...

Yeah, it wasn't advertised very well (but very well attended, might even have been sold out, at least there wasn't a noticeable amount of empty seats), I only knew because [livejournal.com profile] nevla mentioned it and I'm thankful he did.

Heidnische Bilder findet man überall in Kathedralen.
Falls [livejournal.com profile] jupiter_jones Ende August zu Besuch kommt, möcht ich die Tour machen, weil die dann in Ecken gehen, wo man sonst nicht hinkann.
