I'm slowly but surely scared to go to the US ever again

He had a hammer in his room? Get the f*cker, shoot him down, he's a terrorist. What about the lovely Chinese cleaver his mum undoubtedly has in her kitchen drawer?

Hell, I'm scared to live here.

Thinking about the people I know quite a few of them (myself included) have swords in their bedrooms, a hammers pretty mild - if it is for fixing a bed as was mentioned.

WHAT THE HOLY JUMPING FUCK???

How does building a computer model of your school and having a hammer in your room equate to terrorism???

Land of the free my hairy Scottish arse!

How are your plans for moving to the UK coming along?

Looking into visas. Turns out my mom still has dual citizenship (US/UK), so hopefully that will open some doors.

Not to mention guns, even if they aren't real. ;oÞ

*fumes*

Did you read the comments? The ones arguing that the boy was in the wrong?

although this one cracked me up:

I can understand why this would make people nervous. He could use the map for “virtual training” on how to kill his classmates.

For example, he never would have known that the most efficient way to clear the cafeteria is to strafe jump over the stairway, grapple onto northwest exit sign, bunny-hop from table to table, rocket jump onto the rafters, and launch a few B.F.G. rounds into the center of the room.

Hell, he probably would never have thought of using the gravity gun to open the locked door on the teacher’s lounge, so that he could then toss a few plasma grenades in.

Yes, my inability to understand this is even exaggerated by the comments.

That's ace. Ours would be boring, just a huge L shaped room with desks and pillars, although the whole building would be more interesting.

Sheeeet!

Me and a mate wrote a computer game based on the layout of our school when we where 14 years old. No guns but plenty of death and violence.

You open door 3, 345 Mimsey Physics textbooks tumble out and crush you to death! You die horribly.

You enter Pre-fab turtle 12, at the exact same moment as Music teacher Ms Heffalump arrives. The rotten floor of Turtle 12 disintegrates beneath your combined weights and you tumble to your doom! You die horribly.

And I keep a Kali stick and pair of nunchucks under my bed!

Awesome! I used to love them (and still do) because you needed to think and not just bash buttons. Was a good way of practising my English, too.

Can I leave now?

We are not in the US, thankfully.
It's going to be tricky if the legislation about banning swords gets through, though.

Forget the cleaver, what if she has CHEESE?

Has in mind a previous entry of yours. O:-)

We're not the only paranoids in the world. Come visit. Some of us are actually rational, but we don't make the news because we're not nearly as interesting.

Heh.
I know there are cool people stateside, I know quite a few of them but it's still scary. I have all intentions to meet some fine new cool people on my road trip in October.

I don't know when it first aired, but I saw an episode of Numb3rs today that featured a bunch of high school kids going on a gun toting killing spree of their school and they'd hacked together a mod for some shoot 'em up to practice on first. I can't see how it'd be good practice as it'd not model the reaction of the other kids properly - ie running away screaming.

But I can see why people might be worried if someone did something like that, even if it was for fun. It is a tad creepy and wierd.
