It looks like this bridge is going to be built after all. They're felling a row of trees along the North bank of the river at the moment.
I think I'm going to bring in my camera regularly to keep track of the progress.
Yay, finally quicker access to lunchtime shopping!

From the artist's impression there, it looks like it'll be quite groovy and futuristic, in a Buck Rogers kind of way! :)

When one of our engineers was down there a little while back doing some testing and stuff, people seemed to fall into either 'love it, great idea, can't wait' or 'total waste of money'!

The design is very cool though. :)

It does look nice. How far is it from the crossing at the Green Dragon?

Just joking. We mustn't forget time for disasters like the bridge being too short (like the A14 bridge in Milton). ;o)

The trees are being felled exactly where the bridge is supposed to sit on (west of the new development, next to the ditch). There's a 4x4 van thing with "Tree Surgery" on it so I guess they got in the specialists, which makes sense.
It could be conicidence but I don't see any other reason why. They weren't damaged in the recent storms, for example.

Not *that* far, it's right on Riverside, about 100m from the steam museum.
It would still make a difference because I can't just walk along the river from here to the Green Dragon but have to walk out to the High St. and in on Ferry Lane again. A footpath along the river on this bit would be nice.

Yeah, it's funky and considering this part of Riverside is now all modern housing, it fits in.

ir reminds me a little of the millenium bridge in london (which has my name on it somewhere) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Millennium_Bridge

But that is most probably just because it is a modern looking bridge.

Hurray, that'll be convenient for a lot of things.
