Got the letter from the DVLA today with the instructions how to do this online. All sounds good, no trudging to the post office with an antiquated cheque plus three important documents (insurance cover note, MOT certificate and the road tax thing) but I spot a flaw. It says that their insurance database might not be up to date if you've recently renewed. Well, for me - as I assume for many others -  insurance and tax is due in the same month and I just renewed.

I think I'll give it a week and then try.

I think it's only a problem if you try to renew it on the day you renew your insurance. I did it when I renewed mine and it was a very simple and easy process.

Tell us how you got on, since I like going into the post-office. Then again Nairn is so small the max wait is 10 minutes even at Christmas time.
