Is there an r at the end of Klose? No. So don't put one there.

Is Klose a German surname, or a Polish one?

Klose is a typically German name, but his first name is Eastern European. He was born in Poland but of German ancestry.

Are these rhotic or non-rhotic commentators? Because if they're non-rhotic, they may have "intrusive r" - many RP-and-similar speakers do, as an extension of "linking r". I often notice myself using such rs as a link between a word ending in a vowel and another starting in a vowel - I would do this even with my own name (e.g. "My name's Marisa[r] and I live in..." as an introduction). It depends on the nature of the vowels, though - between a high front vowel and a low or back one I would probably use a semivowel [j] as a link instead.

Both have quite a neutral (almost RP) accent so I guess your very interesting point applies.
Thanks!

It is indeed. 8-)
Sometimes also found in people with ancestors in those parts.
Damn, with all this cheering, I am seriously considering getting a shirt with the name on.
And I don't even like football.

its common for scottish folk to do that too. look at "idea", it tends to be pronounced "idear" in scotland. is a accent quirk

It was more extreme than that. They literally said "closer", rather than just dropping the voice (it should stay up).
Also, as I said above, they didn't really have an accent.
