Cute little game: click the point on the world map where you think the section of satellite image is. Some of them are dead easy when you have a decent coastline, others are guesswork at best.

I'm impressed at how well I did. Especially when I had one that was all ocean and I managed to get it within 93 miles or something. :)

That is very good indeed and probably the best you can get as there's no indication as to which point the satellite image is centered on.

...the ocean pictures are particularly difficult. Without a land reference, its easy to be off by as much as 8000 miles.

Is the satellite image not centred on the centre of the map? I think at the 5 mile range though the resolution of the world map becomes significant and you are well within a margin of error. I think I managed single figures when they were kind enough to give me england slap bang in the middle of the zoomed map. Nice and easy. :)

I'm identifying when a bit is the USA because the density of blanked-out military installations is about ten times that of anywhere else...
