Seeger sessions

Even if you aren't a Springsteen fan but do like handmade music (classic Blues, Zydeco, Americana, Country etc.) go and listen to the preview of the Seeger sessions and then buy the album next Monday, even if it's from evil Sony.
This is roots music at its finest. Absolutely wonderful.

This was reviewed on the radio this morning. Listening to the downloads, it's a bit too slickk and bluegrassy for me. As you know, there is plenty of early recordings of these songs - check out Clarence Ashley for example and, of course, the Carter Family. There's also a good magazine for alternative country called Maverick , not to mention the Cambridge Folk Club and Acoustic Routes (which I may have mentioned before.) This kind of music seems to have been in fashion for a couple of years now and some of it is quite good, especially live.
