Oooooh

You know, that house I'm going to have built if I ever win the lottery big?
I'm going to have these people come in and install a few things.
It would also be something for people designing LARP venues...

my dream house is possible a http://www.huf-haus.de house (in my modernist phase), alternately, it's a big old victorian manse type house, which must have it's own hidden rooms or back staircases or something.

Something like that. :o)

Mine would be some sort of hybrid, extremely energy efficient, almost to the point of self-sufficiency (solar panels, ground heat exchanging system, heat and water recirculation, use of rain water (and re-use of waste water) for non-drinking purposes, etc.), a lot of glass, too. One corner of the house would combine the top floor and the roof/loft completely in glass (with several layers of blinds) as a studio.
Another big feature will be the huge kitchen, and an equally big bathroom.
Then of course lots of space for living and parties, multi-room music system and so on.

If I had any talent with plants, I'd have a vegetable patch, foil tunnel and greenhouse to grow my own organic produce but I can't even keep a cactus alive...

Yes, I've thought about this far too much but I can dream. :oP

Your imaginary house can be next to mine and [livejournal.com profile] claire_wain's. I'm going to have an orchard, and Claire's going to have veggies, and we're going to chat over the garden walls. We could be part of the water and power recycling thing, thus increasing our self-sufficiency.
Would you object to a flock of chickens in the neighbour's garden?

[identity profile] karohemd.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, that would rock, we can have dinner parties and share or swap cooking duties.
Freshly laid eggs each morning? Good idea. As long as there isn't a cockerel, because I'll be a lazy bastard and sleep in. :oP
We'd have to live somewhere near Northfield Farm so we get a good source of meat, too.

To increase our self-sufficiency even further, we'll need [livejournal.com profile] puddingcat and [livejournal.com profile] robinbloke or [livejournal.com profile] razornet as neighbours who could fix our cars or computer networks respectively. :o)

Oh, one feature I forgot: wine cellar.

[identity profile] nannyo.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Mup is good at that PC type stuff, and we definitely need [livejournal.com profile] puddingcat nearbye, cos she is the tea fairy and knitting QUEEN!

Oooh, I could have a goat or two as well, and then I could make goat cheese...yum yum yum

[identity profile] karohemd.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, I could be the coffee pixie or something.

This is slowly hatching into a plan. :o)
Why not get a flock of sheep, too, so you can spin your own wool? Shame about the bleating.

[identity profile] sogoth.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. We're also going to move [livejournal.com profile] lineoutrecords into another house in the same place so we can actually run a little techie company/record label to help fund it all :)

[identity profile] karohemd.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought this was the plan when we were all millionaires?

On the other hand, I probably would want to do work of some description. I could well imagine working freelance and offer translation and photography services to charities free of charge.

[identity profile] sogoth.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
You can do all the press stuff for germany and do all the band photography if you want? ;)

[identity profile] karohemd.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Deal! :o)

[identity profile] nannyo.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Heee, we're TECHNOHIPPIES!

[identity profile] sogoth.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
With out own WoW server on site? ;)

[identity profile] nannyo.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I should hope so! I haven't WoWed in ages, due to wrist pain... this is upsetting.

[identity profile] sogoth.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I havn't either. I may take this sunday as an opportunity to try and get my hunter to lvl 30

[identity profile] nannyo.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
what server are you on? It would be neat if we were on the same one.
N.

[identity profile] sogoth.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't remember, but I probably need to move anyway as weekends are getting difficult to log on as it's so damn full. When I do get on, none of my guild are ever around anyway. What server are you guys on?

[identity profile] nannyo.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
We're on Thunderhorn, and the guild is the Axle of Evil. If you give Sweetums, Eccles or Stouffer a whisper, Stu will invite you. I'm Bostaura or Priscilla, and Mup is Lazaru or Ariel. It's a medium sized guild, mostly of people we know. Very helpful, sometimes a little geekily ott.

[identity profile] sogoth.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
cool, thanks :)
I shall start up a new character on sunday

[identity profile] sogoth.livejournal.com 2006-02-25 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
Dammit. I can't join your guid as Thunderhorn is full :(

[identity profile] sogoth.livejournal.com 2006-02-25 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
or maybe I can.. it's let me create a character anyway :)

[identity profile] nannyo.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
BUM! That's not fair...hmmm, wonder if I can bump people off, or if we could move the whole guild to a quieter server... I'll get back to you.
N.

[identity profile] sogoth.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I got on and am now in the guild thanks to some very nice people :)
Character name is Rakk, an Orc hunter. I think 14 levels in a day and a half of solo play is pretty good going :)

[identity profile] karohemd.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
*clears throat*
Can't you take your WOW-geeking elsewhere?
;oP

[identity profile] sogoth.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
we *could* do, but where's the fun in that eh? ;)

[identity profile] nannyo.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! that's fab. Well, give me a shout later on, and I'll bring Priscilla out to play, cos I'm at a similar level.

[identity profile] claire-smith.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
You know about the Techno Hippy Commune, right?

[livejournal.com profile] techhipcomm

[identity profile] nannyo.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
oooooh.... I'm intrigued! Will check them out.
N.

[identity profile] claire-smith.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Or possibly [livejournal.com profile] techipcom, even.

Dr Jones...

[identity profile] belaroo.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't believe how smiley that website made me feel...you made my lunchbreak! I especially like the videos of the armchair spiral slide and the staircase that lifted up. Definatley LRP place material. If Toby gets the chance he'd build something like this. In fact, I'd go along with you and have one of these hidden features in my home given half a chance.
Very exciting...

Re: Dr Jones...

[identity profile] davywavy.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
But what about the floor panel opening up to reveal a pool table? It doesn't have to be a pool table - you could have absolutely anything under there!

Re: Dr Jones...

[identity profile] belaroo.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay!
That would be a good prop for an LRP event, they might go a bit quiet at first...
I showed my Indian friend and he wanted to know why there weren't people hangin on to the outside..

[identity profile] themadone.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)

Oooooh! Shiny! Although you do realise you have to kill them once they've built it? :)

[identity profile] karohemd.livejournal.com 2006-02-24 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
True!
