It's well worth it and easy to get around, too. The public transport system is superb with a wide and frequent coverage, runs 24/7 (at a reduced service after midnight) and you can get handy 48 or 72 hour passes, the latter costing about 15quid which gives you unlimited use within all of Berlin. Compared to the UK, restaurants are really cheap, even at tourist hotspots. I haven't looked at hotel accommodation but I doubt it's that expensive, either, (unless you want to stop over at the Adlon directly by the Brandenburg Gate).
