[Photo] Moth

These little fellows (wingspan about 1cm) sat on my kitchen cupboard and wall Saturday night. There are some more pics on flickr.

Thanks! Taking a good macro holding the camera in one, a flashgun in the other while standing on tiptoes is slightly tricky so I'm glad at least two came out reasonably well. ;o)

I can imagine...lovely to see these tiny things in such detail and appreciate their form.

Very pretty!

I had one fluttering my room last night.

Ooh I like moths! A big fluffy one came to visit my flat last night but I had to see him out before the cat decided she wanted to play...

You have captured the detail beautifully. Unfortunately I never get to see much of the moths that come into the house because the cats eat them very quickly...

Thank you!
What is it with cats and moths? Do they taste particularly nice or is just a hunting thing?

They move (and they're small enough to catch.) A cat will eat ANYTHING that moves really - the only reason they've not eaten me is because I'm bigger than they are.

Absolutely beautiful capture. My home health client was really impressed. If you ever make it to Austin for a visit, I will have to find you a luna moth. they are HUGE and utterly gorgeous.

Thank you! They were very cooperative and held absolutely still while I was clambering about and fiddling with camera in one and flash in the other hand. It's usually the hardest thing about taking photos of animals, they move too much or too quickly. ;o)
