Geek help needed - partially renaming files

I have a folder full of files named xxx_number I would like to rename to number_xxx, leaving the number (which isn't sequential) and the xxx text intact. Is this possible?

Would be easy to rename them on a linux box. Little bash script could do it.

There are Windows programs that do this sort of thing. A search for renamer on http://www.softpedia.com/ might produce something suitable.

If you get utterly stuck poke me next week and I'll write a mini-app to do it

Gandalf sent me an excellent little app for renaming files on-mass. Can't remember the name of it now, but I'm sure he can point you in the right direction if you get stuck.

Bit late on this, been away, but: I use the excellent G6 Utilities, which is freeware and available from:

I'll give it a go, thanks!
It'll be useful for the rest.
