ION

Film Club last night was a success, I think, at least people seemed to have enjoyed themselves.
Right, now to think of the next one. I still haven't shown Oldboy...

Both very good films; thanks for showing :)

Show Oldboy. Show it now! What a class film. Though I still have the wrinkle in my forehead from the "appalled" look I couldn't get off my face after the end. As in appalled at what happened, not that the end was appalling.

I meant to show it in a double feature with Casshern last year but they are both very long so it was only Casshern (plus two rather harsh and subtitled films in a row might be a bit much, too).

I'll probably show Oldboy and then some silly martial arts flick as comic relief aftwards.

Pick a film with Stephen Chow ;-)

Kung Fu Hustle is a possibility, true.
I really didn't like Shaolin Soccer, it was too silly and odd.

God of Cookery is supposed to be pretty good too.

I can't find that anywhere, though (amazon, play, loaded241, rental places.
Do you happen to know a Hong Kong/Asian specialist store?

[identity profile] old-corbie.livejournal.com 2006-01-20 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
Something from the Stormriders trilogy, perhaps. Or Iron Mokey. Both have their light moments.

Amazon have it, though it's a little pricey :-/

No, read the box on the right, it's not in stock.

[identity profile] rirekon.livejournal.com 2006-01-20 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, was confused by the buy used beneath... damn them!
I'm going to go mad if I can't find a region-2 version, grr.

Have you seen Mr Vampire from Hong Kong Legends? I really recommend that flick :)

[identity profile] surje.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
and thanks for providing your auld house!

yes i enjoyed both, although the first one was more light hearted and suited my mood, they were both inspiringly revolutionary.

another theme possibility would have been to show "edukators" with "the dreamers"!

Yep, it's hopping Vampire mad. :o)

I really enjoyed both films and was happy to be there again after so long a gap :)
