Back from BnGH

photos have been downloaded and backed up.

Awesome night, fantastic performances. More when I'm awake (sometime in the afternoon)

But I wouldn't be me if I weren't to post a photo preview:

Ow - Bump 'n' Grindhouse report

So, last night:
I got the the venue a bit later than expected but there was still enough time to set up everything. Helped [livejournal.com profile] dj_slingshot set up his rig and Amy with the staging. Jessica Rabbit's soundcheck blew me away and the light test was fine, too (so happy with the D700, the D80 would have been entirely inadequate at that low a light).
I took the first door shift which after a first rush of people turned out to be quiet but the venue filled up nicely between 10 and 11. I don't know the final numbers but I think it was roughly the same as last time, maybe a little fewer.

The new staging (T-shaped, parallel to the DJ rig with the long bit pointing forward) and seating arrangement (a few rows of chairs in a semicircle around the stage with more room for people to stand in the back) worked a lot better and more people got to see the performers.

- The first performance was a Shibari bondage demonstration by Rod of Eve Productions. Pretty good actually, although it's not really my thing. Was fun to shoot, though and a got a couple of cool shots (if these see the light of day/the web depends on approval by the performers).
- At 11 Miss Jessica and her Rampant Rabbit took the stage. A lot of fun and Amy's voice blew everyone away.
- Lili La Scala offered a classic burlesque act with a costume made of balloons that shrunk as the dance went on. For some reason I got incredibly lucky and managed to press the shutter release at exactly the right moment when the last balloon popped and glitter flew everywhere. When I showed it to Lili she said that nobody had been able to capture that moment yet. *beams*
- Miss Pink & Fluffy's act this time had a Christmas theme and fun it was, too. Light for this one not great, unfortunately, not quite sure why because the setup was the same but I guess it was because the tree obscured one of the LED lightboxes.

The "Guilty Pleasures" set finished the night and I think everyone was happy.

Thank you all who came and I hope you had as much fun as I had.

I helped with takedown and packing up [livejournal.com profile] dj_slingshot's rig, drove home and of course, the first thing I did was downloading and backing up the photos. Despite being shattered I was still wired so I wasn't in bed until 4:30 having had a look at the photos and assembling a tiny preview. Click the thumbnail to go to the (currently tiny) flickr set that will be updated throughout today and tomorrow. ETA: Just updated. Photos of performers to follow in the next few days.

Now, I hurt. I definitely need to do exercise more (a daily dose of Tai Chi should help) and the D700 is rather heavy so my wrist is complaining today. I'll probably cook something tonight and watch Merlin in between working on the BnGH photos.

*groans*

Really tired. Have just sent off photo previews to the burlesque performers so depending on how quickly they get back to me, there will be more stuff online soon. Looking at the Shibari stuff tomorrow, I can't concentrate anymore.
Currently watching the extended repeat of HIGNFY and possibly a DVD later and then bed.

Nostalgia

Ah, the Tales from the Darkside film. Good cheesy fun, just the right level of fodder for my addled brain. Christian Slater, Steve Buscemi and Julianne Moore when they were young. ;o)
ooh, more memories coming back: I based a Chill (Mayfair edition) scenario on the first segment with the mummy. ;o)
