Cool evening

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] scy11a and crew for putting together a great gig at the Boat Race!

Was late because of much work at work, had to go home because I forgot to take my camera so when I got there about 7:40, [livejournal.com profile] skelliga were already playing. I liked.
The audience consisted, not surprisingly, of mostly Camgoths so I knew quite a few people and even more faces.

Next were the Scary Bitches and they rocked mightily. Fun, silly and wonderous costumes. Had to buy a CD, got their autograph and had to take a photo of them with [livejournal.com profile] andrewdavies. Great stage presence, funny lyrics and nice people. My main reason to go to the Boat Race and definitely worth the cover price alone.

Last were Swarf. Their stuff ranged from electro goth to almost decent EBM, so I pretty much danced through the second half of the gig, As [livejournal.com profile] andrewdavies put it, they're pleasant and OK but nothing special. Also, the beat and sound structure seems a bit odd, you're often thrown off balance a bit. The vocals don't quite fit in, either, strangely.
Curiously, I thought they sounded a bit like Evanescence, similar vocals that are sort of away from the structure of the music. What works with Evanescence doesn't quite work with Swarf.

Almost also bought two Cryonica CD samplers but I'm trying to cut back a bit on electro stuff and expand other areas of my music collection more and I'm also trying to save money.

I took quite a few pictures but only a couple turned out well. The lighting wasn't too good so most of the pics I took without flash are far too fuzzy.
I'll upload what I've got sometime tomorrow.

Photos from last night

The Boat Race Gig.
So far, Scary Bitches and Skelliga.
The Swarf set has been randomly selected for manual processing by fotopic so will take a while to show up.

As I said last night, not brilliant due to the lighting and the flash pics are boring but some came out nicely.

Experiment successful

Made a mushroom (dried porcini, shiitake and oyster) risotto, using various recipes as a guideline and it turned out lovely.
The only unprofessional part was using cubes to make the vegetable stock but I've been far too busy to make a proper one.
Oh, it was all vegetarian, too.

I finally decided to open the bottle of Saint Emilion (Merlot-Cabernet) I got for my birthday last year and it fitted nicely.

Now I'm full and can't be bothered to wash up...
