I'm quite busy with things so more will come as my backlog is processed but I'll do a few more tonight.
For the geeks: Nikon D80, Sigma 18-50mm f2.8, f2.8, 1/30th, ISO 1000

Day at work was boring and tiring so I got home and watched TOS (All Our Yesterdays) while having dinner, relaxed a bit, grabbed my cameras and made my way to the MotM.
Chatted to people incl. ChristianW and listened to the support band whose name escapes me but who weren't bad for a young shouty nu-metal outfit. The light was even worse than I remembered from the Rome Burns gig and they weren't really interesting to take many shots of so I scrapped the photo idea for the evening, at least for the time being.

Kreuzdammer had their own lighting, well, the projector, two scanners and the big strobe, which worked remarkably well so I actually got a few shots I'm really happy with. There'll be a preview tomorrow.
KD gigs at the MotM seem to be cursed as the lead mike cut out halfway through but was sorted soon and [livejournal.com profile] c0rvu5r3x had problems with his bass but it was still a good set considering the venue.

- Really knackered. Need a holiday (i.e. a few days of doing nothing but sleep, eat and relax without going anywhere or doing anything physically demanding) :o(
- Calling last night was OK. Great to catch up with people (where was [livejournal.com profile] toripink?) but except for 20 minutes of acceptable Bleep/Stomp from Loki, the music was rubbish. Good turnout, though so good for them.
- Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] c0rvu5r3x for the comp copy of the Kreuzdammer EP!
- Mentioning KD, they're playing at the Man on the Moon this Friday, quite possibly supported by Fire&Forget as their original support had to drop out. Should be a laugh. I'll take my camera and hope for good light (haha).
- Battle of the Bands (Battle of the Album Covers would be more appropriate but it's still good)
- Underworld Evolution isn't that bad if you watch it for what makes it good (i.e. mainly Selene's arse). Just one comment: I thought that the Lycan transformations were better in the first film and didn't feel as CGed.
- I'm catching up with Battlestar Galactica after stopping halfway through Season 1 last year.

As I said earlier, there was plenty of light so I was happily shooting along at ISO800 but it was also very inconsistent.
Next time there are strobes, I need to take a lot more photos in short sequence to get lucky more often. I have two or three photos which are absolutely fantastic in terms of subject and composition but have the faces completely blown out. :o(

Anyway, here are some samples I'm really pleased with. Comments and constructive criticism, especially from the photo geeks, welcome.

Went to Battle of the Bands at The Junction where I ran into [livejournal.com profile] vyvyan, [livejournal.com profile] razornet, [livejournal.com profile] jasonooc, [livejournal.com profile] briggsy, [livejournal.com profile] casilda and [livejournal.com profile] surje but not [livejournal.com profile] akonken.

Had a brief chat with [livejournal.com profile] devalmont, too. I'd never ever seen someone being so nervous. ;o)

Had missed the first band but saw the next two who were alright and technically not bad at all but not my cup of tea.

Kreuzdammer, on the other hand, were and they put on one hell (almost literally) of a show. Despite the glitch of the backing track not wanting to start at the beginning, they were the most professional band.
If you can and they're playing near where you are, go and see them. They ROCK.

Surprisingly, having seen the audience before consisting mainly of spooky or indie kids, most of them didn't run away when KD started. ;o)

I took loads of photos. There was plenty of light but very little from the front, except for the strobes which made randomly finding the correct exposure quite challenging as I either good too dark or blown out pictures, despite underexposing by two stops. On the other hand, this meant that I got some cool silhouette shots.

ETA: They lost to the band who were on before them by half a bloody point... :o(
(thanks to [livejournal.com profile] briggsy for the info)
